AI Agents and Agentic Migration – What It Means for Your Business

I'm back from an impressive Microsoft Ignite 2025 and after two days of work, I'm taking time to reflect on the key takeaways – especially around agentic systems, Copilot integrations, and modernization. AI was everywhere from keynotes to labs, and these innovations will accelerate cloud transformation and change daily project work. For decision-makers: Here's the business relevance from my perspective.

Agentic Azure: Copilot Agents in Daily Operations

Azure Copilot Agents integrated into Azure Migrate were a highlight for me – they automate discovery, dependency analysis, and migration to IaaS/PaaS, even including code refactoring via Copilot for GitHub.

What does this mean for projects? Shorter assessments, faster legacy app modernization, and less manual planning. At adesso, we're already using this in pilot projects for automated migration paths – just like I saw in the Ignite sessions.

Infrastructure Power: New VM SKUs with Azure Boost

Microsoft announced powerful VM series that caught my eye: Das/Eas/Fasv7 (5th Gen AMD EPYC), Dlns-/Dns-/Ensv6 (Intel Xeon Platinum) – all enhanced with Azure Boost for higher performance. New vCore customization disables SMT for optimized single-thread workloads.

Impact on architecture? Better cost-benefit for analytics, HPC, and real-time processing. A redesign pays off for high single-thread workloads – something we review in our security and performance audits.

Security & Identity: Agents Protecting Agents

Unified Posture Management for AI agents (now in Defender preview) and new Security Copilot Agents (Conditional Access, Identity Risk, App Lifecycle) provide consistent threat protection. Entra ID now supports synced passkeys from Apple/Google.

Relevance for governance? Secure AI rollout without vulnerabilities – perfect for hybrid identity models. Our assessments integrate this directly into cloud strategies, as I experienced proctoring the Defender CSPM lab at Ignite.

Next Steps for Your Roadmap

From my Ignite experience, prioritize:

  • 1) Copilot pilots for migration
  • 2) VM review for Boost-eligible workloads
  • 3) Agent security assessment.
